Summary:


The Mechanical Engineer Intern is responsible for assisting with mechanical design projects, contributing to new product development as well as supporting design maintenance and troubleshooting of existing products. Working closely with experienced engineers, the intern will gain exposure to tolerance studies, thermal and vibration analysis, and design documentation. This practical experience provides the intern with the opportunity to develop a diversified skill set and contribute to innovative solutions that are important to both their professional growth and NAI’s business success. 


This Internship is for Summer 2026.   


Salary

$16.50-$25.00 per hour

Requirements

  • Assist in executing drawing updates and preparing engineering change order (ECO) instructions.
  • Support the detailing of mechanical drawings and documentation updates.
  • Participate in initial design concepts and improvements to existing products.
  • Contribute to thermal analysis activities and support thermal design aspects.
  • Assist with vibration performance estimates and basic vibration testing.
  • Support manufacturing and production engineers with fixture or tool design tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineers to learn how mechanical design constraints impact producibility and performance.
  • Provide timely updates to project documentation and reports.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Advanced Math/Physics coursework.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electronic components.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  Preferred Skills and Abilities:   

  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar.
  • Exposure to mechanical analysis software or structural/thermal modeling.
  • Familiarity with drafting tools, standards, and practices.
  • Coursework, projects, or internship experience related to manufacturing or product design.
  • Self-motivated with curiosity and desire to learn new technologies.
